The Position:

Under the general direction of the Department Director and Deputy Director, the ERP Utilities Program Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of functional and/or technical ERP Utilities projects. This role partners primarily with Public Utilities business stakeholders to define projects and requirements and to ensure all ERP system production changes adhere to established ERP change management processes.

 

The Program Manager provides leadership across multiple concurrent, complex functional and technical ERP initiatives, overseeing project planning, scheduling, and resource assignments for functional analysts and support teams.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing customer and stakeholder relationships at the project level.
  • Analyzing complex ERP business scenarios in order to recommend and develop potential solutions. 
  • Directing, coordinating, and evaluating the work of specific ERP production support staff and project teams.
  • Developing and monitoring detailed project plans to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and alignment with specifications.
  • Ensuring that user, operations, and technical documentation is developed and maintained for all SAP system configurations.
  • Upholding compliance with IT standards in all project activities.
  • Remaining aware of current trends and technical advancements of ERP solutions in order to adapt to dynamic technology. 

  

This role emphasizes business engagement, strong leadership of diverse teams, initiative and innovation and overall program oversight to ensure the City’s ERP Utilities solutions effectively support operational and strategic goals.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates these qualifications may be qualifying. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business administration, public administration, business management
  • Five (5) years' experience leading strategic planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of SAP systems
  • Five (5) years of supervisory and management experience working directly with staff or consultants in a project or direct staff role

 

Desired Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of related SAP functional experience, with at least two years of experience in a functional management role supporting SAP applications in a production environment.
  • Two (2) years of public sector experience and successful completion of the SAP Public Sector Academy or SAP Utilities Certification
  • Strong experience supporting SAP Utilities applications in a production environment.
  • Experience working on an SAP implementation.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete complex assignments using initiative to accomplish results.
  • Ability to work independently and use critical thinking skills to meet project goals.
  • Ability to set clear team expectations and goals, monitor performance and manage deliverables while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to present complex technical information in a simple, clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including the public, external agencies and elected officials.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills focusing on information sharing, active listening, employee empowerment, inclusion and recognition.
  • Committed to public service, fiscal responsibility and innovation in government.
